OUR ORIGIN STORY
Classic Beach Design is led by principal designer Kim Willson, a born creative with over 30 years of experience in the style and design space. Always destined for a career in interior design, Kim opened two surf shops (first Classic Beach, then Coastal Living) in Newport Beach, California after earning her degree in fashion merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising. To her surprise (and delight!), customers inquired about the store’s interior design as much as the items on the shelves. Realizing her natural talent, Kim began designing customers’ homes. The rest, as they say, is history.
THE STUDIO
With Classic Beach Design, Kim’s ultimate goal is to make your home feel uniquely yours. Decades of building and renovation experience have shaped her design process: a delicate balance of functional living, vibrant personality, and refined style. She layers texture, color, and natural materials to create unexpected, make-you-smile moments throughout the home. By keeping personalization at the center of her design process, Kim has catered to clients with a wide range of tastes, styles, goals, and preferences.
While Kim handles every facet of design and procurement, it’s her life and business partner, Tim Willson, who keeps renovation and installation running to plan. Between their combined creativity and structure, the two turn dream homes into a reality, on time, on budget, and full of style.
